This is the place you visit prior to participating in a Social Web Cafe produced Interactive Web (or show or podcast or production – you get the drift…). Here you will find the production link (above). When we stream LIVE (aka LiveStream), we post the link within the 30 min window prior to the event. You can click on it, get your settings all ready and relax. Don’t worry if you do not see/hear anyone there. We monitor it during the green room time and will be there momentarily.
If you are a guest or panelist, please get ready. 🙂
Sound Quality Essentials (aka “Rules”)
Social Web Cafe’s Rules for Quality. So popular, these rules have now been reprinted/published (verbatim) and in use by places like Internet Marketing Ninjas! Yeah! Copying is the best form of flattery and we thank you for that 🙂
Please use headphones. Actually, this is a requirement. Without it, we get a constant hum on the recording, echo, and the worst of all, feedback loop (that “screechy noise”). Also, please ensure that your mic is close enough to your mouth so that we are not catching any other noises from the background, in place of your beautiful voice.
Please turn off your cell phone (i.e. turn it to vibrate). If you must have it on, please locate the mute button in recording window for when you are not speaking. More importantly, please disable app notification sounds (i.e. Skype, Facebook, iPad notifications, etc.). These sounds can disrupt the flow of the conversation in the event.
Please do not start your laundry, a new concoction in the blender, your spouse vacuuming the house, during the event, etc… Believe it or not, your mic sometimes delivers that sound to our event and recording. We may not mind during the event itself, but our video viewers and podcast listeners may care while listener. It is amazing how distinct those appliances come through when a podcast is playing in those earbuds!
If we ever mute (or eject) you during an event, it probably isn’t personal. It will be for sound quality and production purposes.
This is your time, before joining the event, to test these things, during the green room time.
Feel free to go grab that last cup of coffee now.
Looking forward to hanging out with you!!
